Lee Muslin
Lee Muslin
Lee Muslin has been a fine art photographer for over 30 years and in 1995 she began to explore the mysteries of digital imaging. Lee's photographs capture the wonder and
beauty of the world around us. In her digital images, the wonder is achieved by layering, combining and blending her photographs. The use of the computer as a tool enables Lee to create new artwork with the application of effects that could not be accomplished with traditional photography techniques.
In 2000, Lee was accepted into the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., an organization started by prominent women artists in the late 1800's. She was on the board of Professional Women Photographers as the Exhibition Committee Chair from 2002 - 2004.
Artist Statement
In my digital photomontages, I explore the convergence of two geographies: the landscape of the imagination and that of physical places. Inspired by the natural world, I heighten the impact of the rhythms and patterns of nature by overlaying and blending my original photographs using the computer as my paintbrush. This process facilitates results that would be impossible in the traditional darkroom and has enabled me to push boundaries in my work.
Because it is based on photographs, this art possesses a vividness and connection to experience. But yet, like dreams, it's apparently an illusion. Using this technique imbues my work with a mystery and depth that gives it a metaphysical dimension. I create a world removed from the limits of reality.
