Mainly self-taught, Karen Cantello has been painting for more than 20 years. 2008 marks the beginning of her professional practice with her first solo exhibition in 2009.
Her subjects are cattle, individually and in groups, but always up close.
“The cattle are intended as non-conceptual; beyond words and even emotion, these animals have an innately grounded quality and, with their direct attention given to the viewer, the ability to invoke that transformational moment when seer becomes seen.”
